Workspace inspiration | Little black suitcase crush

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Hello this morning, how do you like my new 'workspace' corner... actually it is an old metal suitcase which I placed on a stool. Inside I keep my agenda's, and some of the most necessary 'tools'. I was bored with the wooden staircase in the kitchen and the other week I styled this little corner instead. Working very often at the kitchen table and less in my studio here |or here, this is all I need next to my iPad and laptop.

I kinda like this way of decorating as it keeps my kitchen table 'empty', and at the same time I have everything at hand. Something so simple can make me really happyh :) And how about you.. are you up for some changes or maybe cleaning out your workspace as well?

Paola Navone for Essent'ial | Merci Pop Up Store | Salone del Mobile

Sunday, April 20, 2014

When your favourite designer and your favourite store team up in Milano at the same time you are in town for milan designweek you might call yourself lucky. After meeting Paola Navone at a party in Paris some years ago, I seem to keep bumping into her whenever I am in Paris or Milan. It was a real pleasure to have a little hug and an hello with her again when visiting the pop up store this year. Main theme was a new collection of iconic black and white and some green and red also items for essent'ial.

This year my eye caught the new designed chair 'Oblò', tucked away under the stairs. Designed by Paola Navone for Triconfort |and previously showed at M&O| This range of garden furniture consists of a table with casted aluminium legs and a textured white or grey marble surface. The chair is available in different colours.

And as I love to combine outside furniture with my interior I'd love to add the dining chair in silver to my home. You can never have to many chairs right... now only to find if it's availble somewhere nearby.

Bad thing of these pop up stores is, you always want to bring something home. Being on a flight and not carrying the biggest suitcase I always stick with little gadgets and just only bought myself some bathroom accessories like the black marble enamel cup by Dyke and Dean and some Aesop products |can't resist them| and being on a trip to Milan always is a good excuse ;)

Inspiration for your home | Cool curtains for your walk in closet

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

While working on my blog, reading your blogs and websites, my
Facebook | would love you to join me there!| is always open at the background. I like to see what friends are posting and if it seems of any interest I click on the link *hello distraction*. The next minute I can find myself surfing around and forgetting what I was doing in the first place.

The other day I clicked on a link photographer
Marjon Hoogervorst added on her timeline. Printlove is here webshop where she sells her letterpress prints. But I also found this wonderful curtain with black and white print... if you are not the lucky owner of a walk in closet but have a wall filled with shelves and clothes-racks instead. This curtain that reminds me of a fitting room, might be a wonderful addition to your room next to keeping your clothes out of sight.

GIVEAWAY | Choose your favorite HAGEDORNHAGEN poster

Sunday, March 30, 2014

Today I'd love for you to meet Hagedornhagen, founded by the two photographers Mads Hagedorn-Olsen and Anders Morell. They have a passion for creeps and tiny winged creatures. For this reason they photographed selected types of beetles and butterflies, and created a series of art prints of very high quality, as regards to both craftsmanship and artistry.

The artprints have a look that conjures up visions of old silk screen prints with nature motives. They simply buzz with nostalgia and poetry. At the same time, the photographs express innovation and modernity due to their graphic simplicity and illustrative sharpness.

When I first came across Hagedornhagen I thought the new poster series Pyrite fitted my blog so well, and looking around at their site I found many more of my taste. PYRITE, shows the impressive beauty of mineral geometry in three graphic looks. Although the many facets and sharp edges glisten and gleam, the three mineral shapes convey an overall impression of something that is pure, simple and natural. All three posters come in B&W and can be obtained in two different sizes: 50X70 cm and 30X40 cm.

The Butterfly with Copper poster is one of the large butterflies series. But if you can't choose there is a new poster, MYRIAD, where they have grouped a swarm of butterflies that comes in 2 different sizes | 70X100 cm and 50X70 cm |

The Canvas-series evolves around a more dark and alluring universe. The inspiration stems from the stilleben in the Renaissance, where artists made static arrangements of everyday objects to depict the present, the 'now', thereby emphasizing the underlying themes of transience, damnation and in the end death. The Canvas-series depicts dramatic insects hovering on raven-black backgrounds behind clouds of vaporized water.

CIRCULUS is a new, beautiful poster displaying a fragment of a flower.
The B&W motif is daringly disrupted by the grey lettering, which interrupts the serenity and the subtle balance between the light and the dark areas of the bloom.

Hagedornhagen giveaway
Are you in love already with the posters and in for something totally new for your home?! Two lucky readers can both win a poster of their choice. Winning is easy, just go to the Hagedornhagen website, make your choice and let us know in a comment under this post which poster you like most and would love to win.

Jason is the owner of Craft industry a store selling industrial furniture, located on the ground floor of the building 'Anton' on Strijp S in Eindhoven. The same building he also lives since June 2013... High contrast | Photo shoot by Holly for Decor8

Friday, February 28, 2014

Have you seen Holly's blogpost on Decor8 ? Some time ago Holly of Avenue Lifestyle asked me if she could make some pictures for her blogposts on Decor8 and so she spent an afternoon with her camera at my home.

I always find it fascinating how other people see my home and seeing the pictures I also realize that having some 'good' lenses for your camera can make a difference on how you capture a room. More pictures can be found on the Decor8 blog. Thank you Holly it was fun having you around.

Kids Work spaces in Black & White | Ferm Living

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

During our blog tour to Copenhagen last august where we styled the Bloggerzone at the first DesignTrade fair, we also had the pleasure to meet the people behind Ferm Living. A Danish brand with a wide range of interior products including wallpaper, textiles, decorative objects, wall stickers and designs for the kitchen, bathroom and office space.

I loved to see two of my friends working together on a serie of new pictures in Riikka's home for Ferm Living. You can see more of their work on their blogs, here on Emma's designblog and here on Weekday Carnival where they show the pictures they made mostly focused on the kids products. Next week they'll show some more grown-up spaces so keep checking back.

Copenhagen home of Nina Bruun

Monday, February 10, 2014

After seeing this picture on Annaleenas Hem |It was so nice to finally meet you at our Bloggerparty at Fantastic Frank |, I feel like adding a black chair at my kitchen table or maybe just paint one of my old kitchen chairs in BLACK! I noticed before, during a photo shoot at home where the stylist added a black Ikea chair, that it looked really well in combination with the white ones I have around my table. Just like the industrial chairs breaks the white look.

The pictures in this post are made for Finnish Deko magazine at the home of Danish designer Nina Bruun in Copenhagen. Who works as a project manager/product developer at Muuto. I hope to see more of it soon.

Inspiration in BLACK | Charcoal by Occulter

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Black represents sophistication, rebellion, and being tough.... No wonder I fell in love with the lifestyle products made out of Japanese traditional charcoal, chosen by the owners of NYC based Occulter. I personally always choose items in black or white for my own home. And if you are a Monochrome lover like me you will certainly understand that this goes for everything I surround myself with!

In my bathroom I prefer a simple soap dish with an amazing piece of black soap, a cool black toothbrush or a super soft Binchotan Facial Puff (try it!). If my wallet can afford it, I always try to buy pure and beautiful items, instead of colourful and cheap personal care products... I'm still missing that stunning bathroom to go with it, but I guess we all have to start somewhere ;) I would love to hear about your favorite brand!
